CHOPPER
This is
CHOPPER - our Senior addition. He is 9 years old
(his
birthday is April 1999)
He is a fantastic dog. He's very well behaved, totally housebroken as
you might expect, neutered and up to date
on all his vaccinations. He gets along with 99% of other dogs - he was
used to going to
Doggie Daycare 3-4 times a week, so he's well socialized.
As you can see from the picture he likes the water although his
previous owners told
us he can NOT swim - he sinks like a log! He's now about 80
pounds.
Despite his middle age he's very energetic and loves to go for LONG,
LONG walks - and he rarely get tired.
He came to us through no fault of his, his owner passed away and the
rest of the family,
although they loved him dearly, were unable to keep him.
We keep in touch and they are more than willing to answer any questions
I don't have the answer to.
Chopper is very quiet, rarely barks, absolutely
LOVES to go for
walks!!!
So far the only bad trait we've found is his fondness for shredding
dish towels and soft toys.
He needs a family where he can be active with all you do - he loves to
ride and is a perfect boy in the car.
He is a very balanced, well socialized dog so walking as a pack he
exhibits calm leadership and the other
dogs tend to take his lead. He ignores other barking and aggressive
dogs when he meets them.
On nice days, he
likes to just sit
outside or lay on the lawn when there is a breeze and sunshine to
bask in.
He can be a little possessive of his toys, food and treats with other
dogs so we just make sure that
when he's with others we pick up the toys and bones and we
feed everyone is seperate areas.
Now after 4 months here,
he has gotten more comfortable and we can do almost
anything with him,
yet he is
strong-willed and will test your limits if you are not consistent and a
strong "alpha" person.
Someone with dog
experience would be best
for Chopper.

He loves our grandchildren, and is
great when they come to visit,
but I would not adopt him into a home where young children live.
His previous owners said he tends to nip at cats if they get too
close,
so I would also not adopt him to a home with a cat.
Chopper would also be best as your only
dog.
Though he might be
matched with a submissive female, he is a little competitive over
rawhides and
toys,
and because he was raised as an only child - it would be easier if he
is your only dog.
He
is an
incredibly devoted dog highly motivated to
please you.
Please consider giving CHOPPER a loving home.....
you will get the love you give back 100 fold !!!
